While at Ricks, she was a cast member of Showtime Company and also founded the musical group "From the Heart," which continues to be a popular program at BYU-Idaho to this day. At BYU in Provo she toured with the elite BYU Concert Choir and also served as a director for the acclaimed Jenny Phillips Fireside Group. Now, as wife and mother, she dedicates her (very little) spare time to her mission through music. Over the past thirteen years she has been a member of the Deseret Book recording trio, Mercy River, which has been a popular staple at events such as Time Out for Women and BYU’s Women’s Conference, and has performed all over the nation and internationally, including England, Australia, Wales, Scotland, and New Zealand. Together, they have recorded and released 6 studio albums with Shadow Mountain Records. When she’s not singing or chasing her kids, Whitney enjoys teaching English to Chinese children online, coaching high school cheerleading, and writing, directing, and/or starring in the local melodrama. She and her husband, Rock Permann, live in Rockland, Idaho with their 6 children and love all things sports, Harry Potter, and Netflix.
