Meet the Director

Whitney Permann has been a professional singer, song writer, and performer in the popular recording trio, Mercy River, for the last 15 years. She grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High school. She then attended Ricks College and BYU in Provo, graduating with high honors in English Teaching.

While at Ricks, she was a cast member of Showtime Company and also founded the musical group "From the Heart," which continues to be a popular program at BYU-Idaho to this day. At BYU in Provo she toured with the elite BYU Concert Choir and also served as a director for the acclaimed Jenny Phillips Fireside Group. Now, as wife and mother, she dedicates her (very little) spare time to her mission through music. Over the past fifteen years she has been a member of the Deseret Book recording trio,
Mercy River, which has been a popular staple at events such as Time Out for Women and BYU’s Women’s Conference, and has performed all over the nation and internationally, including England, Australia, Wales, Scotland, and New Zealand. Together, they have recorded and released 6 studio albums with Shadow Mountain Records. When she’s not singing or chasing her kids, Whitney enjoys teaching children online (over 3,500 classes!), writing, directing, and/or starring in the local community play, and spending time in the mountains. She and her husband, Rock, live in Rockland, Idaho with their 6 children and love all things sports, Harry Potter, and Netflix.
